Happy feast of Our Lady of Lourdes! But it is also a sad day too, because Pope Benedict XVI has just announced that he will resign at the end of the month - February 28th at 8pm. In his declaration he says, "After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry." If you want to read the full text of the declaration you can go to http://en.radiovaticana.va/Articolo.asp?c=663815 . It is definitely sad and confusing news, so tonight we are going to pray the Rosary in St. Peter's square, and we have already been briefed to be prepared for a flood of work in the internships. So please continue to pray for the Church and the Pope during this time. I think that one of the Pope's lasting legacies is his work for the New Evangelization. For anyone who is interested in learning more about the New Evangelization the Silver Lake College of the Holy Family Theology program can be a good resource: https://sl.edu/traditional-program/academics/majors/humanities-and-social-sciences/theology-and-new-evangelization/ and https://www.facebook.com/SLCTheology. Have a great week everyone, and I'll be sure to keep you posted with the goings on here as the election of a new pope begins!

Just got your blog link, it is so nice to hear/see that you are doing well there. What a special gift!! Keep updating us and keep well.

As I think and pray about this very unexpected news, I think that the Pope has shown his genius once again; theological genius, ecclesiological genius. More importantly, has shown humility, courage and love.
